What is the One-Eighty Residency?

The One-Eighty Residency is a one-year (12-month) Christian gap-year and internship program in Lodi, California. Residents live in community, study theology, and serve at-risk youth and families in the Heritage District neighborhood of Lodi. The program is provided by One-Eighty Programs, a Christian non-profit operating since 2002, and is affiliated with the North American Baptist Association.

 

Two Pathways

Resident Student — $1,250/month For Christian young adults who want to earn college credits while doing hands-on ministry. Earn up to 54 credits toward a Bachelor of Arts in Christian Thought and Practice through Kairos University.

Resident Intern — $800/month For young adults with at least 2 years of college or an Associate's Degree who want paid work experience in ministry. Receive a Certificate in Contextual Mission and Practice from One-Eighty Programs and the North American Baptist Association. Includes average 25 hours/week paid internship.

Who Can Apply

  • Active Christian faith and involvement in a Christian fellowship

  • High school graduate, under 25 years of age

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA

  • Interested in youth ministry, community development, missions, or Christian non-profit work

  • Capacity: 9 residents per year (4 male, 5 female)

 

What the Program Includes

  • Communal living at the Central Street House in Lodi's Heritage District

  • Theology and ministry classes (Contextual Mission, Biblical Foundations, Spiritual Formation)

  • Hands-on ministry at the Teen Center, Homework Clubs, and school sites

  • Daily prayer rhythms and weekly worship

  • Spiritual direction and mentoring

  • Adventure trips with local teenagers (Redwoods, Santa Cruz, Lake Tahoe)

  • One-week study and ministry trip to El Salvador

  • Annual NAB NorCal Retreat at Lake Tahoe

 

Cost and Financial Aid

  • Resident Student: $1,250/month (includes room, board, classes, El Salvador trip, small personal allowance)

  • Resident Intern: $800/month (includes room and board; El Salvador trip based on fundraising)

  • Full Scholarships available - residents need to apply to receive a scholarship

  • Residents are encouraged to fundraise support from their home church and community

  • Kairos University — up to 54 transferable college credits for Student pathway
